Higher Calling — Alone EP
In 1994 teachers and students at a youth and church centre in the Bronx recorded a gospel & funk album as Higher Calling, shared on a handful of private CDs. We found an ultra-rare copy digging at Amore Discos in Barcelona. The standout: a distorted lo-fi house remix of “Alone”, tacked on as a bonus by teacher, vocalist and producer Bervin Harris. Thirty years on it’s still a secret weapon on the festival circuit — so we went back to the Bronx to find him.
The DJs
Rare gems next to Detroit & Chicago
As DJs we mix obscure soca, calypso and afro-disco with classic house and techno — dynamic, uplifting sets for festivals, clubs, Sunday afternoons and long dinners alike.
